EUSTORGIO A. LOPEZ, D.D.S., M.D.
Dr. Lopez is a board certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with an extensive clinical and academic career. He obtained his D.D.S. from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. After returning to his native Panama and completion of the necessary internship years toward licensure, he was instrumental in developing the dental service in Panama's National Cancer Institute, where he was the Chief for four years.
His interest and commitment to the care of the patient with Head and Neck Cancer brought him to this country where he pursue training in Dental Oncology and Maxillofacial Prosthetics at UTHSC in San Antonio, Texas and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
Not satisfied with what he has to offer his patients he embarked in training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, followed by additional subspecialty education in Maxillofacial Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami, Miami, Florida under the mentorship of Dr. Robert E. Marx.
Obtaining an M.D. degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine then followed this. His formal academic education and surgical training was settled after fellowship years in General Surgery and Hyperbaric Medicine and Problem Wounds. He joined the faculty of the Department of Surgery University of Miami School of Medicine with appointments as Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery in the Divisions of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dentistry and Hyperbaric Medicine and Problem Wounds. After eight very fruitful clinical and academic years with the University of Miami, Dr. Lopez accepted a position as Associate Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine where presently he is the program director of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency program.
He embraces his academic endeavors with passion and enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience from the simplest surgical procedures to the most complex surgical microvascular reconstructions with students, residents and colleagues alike. His patients' wellbeing remains the focus of his daily practice, research and ongoing studying.
Dr. Lopez research areas of interest revolve around reconstruction, bone regeneration/tissue engineering and radiated tissue biology.
He is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
